Bio

Fresh off her decorated career as an amateur golfer, even winning her final amateur event, Hanley Long set her sights on the big leagues. With her fiery personality and powerful game, Long had all the tools she needed to be a success on tour. While juggling a communications major from Middle Tennessee State University, she was also a star on the women's golf roster. She currently holds multiple scoring records at her alma mater, and quickly gained a "True Blue" fan base eager to cheer her on. She recently decided to regain her Amateur status, as she missed her home in Tennessee and wanted to compete at a high amateur level in the state.

It is undeniable Hanley Long looks impressive on paper, but what doesn't show through her many accolades is her extreme heart and passion for sport and making an impact on people's lives while in a competitive environment. She is invested in introducing golf to young girls, and has dedicated a great portion of her time working junior tournaments over the summer all while preparing for her own competitions. Hanley is a natural leader with a positive disposition, and doesn't look to slow down until she accomplishes her goals. She recently joined the Belmont University Women's Golf Team as an Assistant Coach for the 2019-2020 season.

Hanley Long is the first ever Brand Ambassador for Teleri Athletics. We are very proud and honored to have Hanley on Team Teleri!

Ask Hanley

What is one of your favorite memories playing golf?

Winning my last amateur event (befire turning pro) at the Tennessee Women’s Amateur while having my dad caddying!

What's the best advice you have for a junior wanting to play collegiate golf?

Two things you can control each day are your attitude and effort..attack each day with a positive mindset and push through on the days when you’re not as motivated! Results will pay off with consistency and time.

Biggest takeaway from collegiate golf.

One of the biggest takeaways from college golf is that it’s important to maintain a healthy balance— between school, workouts, golf, friends, family..it’s important to have a healthy balance of each!

What is the day in the life of a professional golfer?

Day in the life of a professional golfer varies each day.. when I am home, I usually play anywhere from 9-18 holes each day.. work on some swing thoughts on the range, get some putting drills in, and try to incorporate some wedge practice in each day! It’s important to workout at least 3 days a week and stretch for mobility! It’s a flexible schedule because you're in charge of it, but you have to be dedicated and not get distracted!

What is the best golf advice you've ever received?

The best golf advice I ever received was from my dad.. if you pick the smallest target you possibly can... it’ll cause you to have a smaller miss than picking a bigger target. Creates less room for error!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I honestly have no idea where I see myself in 5 years, but I hope that whatever I’m doing, I’m making a positive impact and influencing as many lives in a great way as I possibly can.

Pick one: Junior Golf, Amateur Golf, Professional Golf, Collegiate Golf.

College golf allllll the way! There’s no other feeling than like competing for your university, coach, players, family, friends, and yourself! It’s so much bigger than just playing individual golf.

Favorite practice drill.

My favorite practice drill is any type of wedge game.. I usually start with 5 golf balls from 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70 yards and hit 5 balls from each yardage.. I try to hit 3 out of 5 shots within 10 feet of the hole.

What is the best part of your game?

Putting is by far my best part haha

What is the best thing you've gotten out of golf?

All the memories and friendships is have developed throughout my career are the best things the game of golf course ever give me! From competing in junior tours and college, working for the Tennessee Golf Foundation and USGA, then playing professionally, I have so many relationships that I am so thankful for!

Favorite Teleri Athletics piece.
